COMMUNITY PROGRAMS

Chamber Community Programs

CHAMBER COMMUNITY PROGRAMS

The Northeast Tarrant Chamber takes pride in facilitating community programs that bring together education, business leaders, non-profits organizations, elected officials, and volunteers to help those in need and further area economic development!

OUR COMMUNITY PROGRAMS INCLUDE:

ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIPS:  Our Chamber awards up to 12 annual scholarships to area high school seniors.  Scholarship funds are raised all year long by raffle ticket sales at Chamber membership luncheons and by donations from Chamber members.  High school seniors from Birdville ISD, Keller ISD and member private and charter schools are eligible to apply for our $1,000 college scholarships.  More information HERE.

B.E.S.T. COMMITTEE (BUSINESS EDUCATION SUCCESS TEAM):  The B.E.S.T. Committee is made up of representatives from Birdville ISD, Keller ISD, Member Privatge and Charter Schools, and area business interested in supporting educational initiatives.  Committee members meet monthly to discuss current programs and new opportunities.

BIRDVILLE PARTNERS IN EDUCATION “PIE” PROGRAM – A partnership effort with our Chamber, Birdville ISD, and the Community Enrichment Center to help give financial support to BISD programs that help disadvantaged students (i.e. BISD Refresh).  Area large businesses will be asked to financially support this effort on an annual basis while other businesses and organizations will be asked to support the effort by fundraising and volunteering.

CHALLENGE BY CHOICE:  A joint program between the Chamber and Birdville ISD serving 7th grade AVID students.  The program encourages students to take as many challenging courses they can during their high school years, so they will be better prepared for higher education or to join the workforce. It’s a fun and rewarding program that can make a lasting impact on young people.  Chamber Member Businesses are encouraged to participate by encouraging employee volunteers to present

NEXT STEPS:  In 2016, the Northeast Tarrant Chamber and Birdville Independent School District began a new partnership called Next Steps, with a goal of helping homeless students overcome obstacles to completing their education.  There are homeless students of all ages within the district, younger students with their families and some older students on their own.  Program volunteers garner donations to fill backpacks that help with the needs of temporarily homeless students.

LEADERSHIP NORTHEAST:  With over 450 graduates to-date, Leadership Northeast is one of the premier leadership programs operating today.  The mission of Leadership Northeast is to provide a framework for the development of visionary community leaders and to date, Leadership Northeast graduates continue to contributed dedicated, conscientious, committed leadership service to Northeast Tarrant County and the surrounding areas.  More information HERE.

TEACHER OF THE YEAR:
The Chamber B.E.S.T. Committee supports the BISD Teacher of the Year program by providing a selection committee for the top three district candidates.  Individual schools select their choices and then submit those choices to the Chamber for consideration by the Selection Committee.  BISD announces the selections at their annual Teacher of the Year Gala.

VITAL LINK:  Vital Link is a one-week mentoring program for eighth-grade BISD students.  The program takes place during the first week that follows the last week of school in May/June.  Students are matched with Chamber member businesses and spend three hours per day for one week working in the business with a mentor.
